I came across this fascinating piece of research recently that i found in an article dating back to 1993.
The article below and list of mindboggling domains will keep you awake tonight i guarantee and make you think of the ‘what ifs’ .
Many of these domains and websites are still going, some are the original owners , others have changed hands over the years or been dropped and re-registered.

News in today 21st July 2008, Domain broker Sedo has sold Revolution.org for a huge $120,000
This follows on from the sale of Date.org for $150,349 which sold back in December 2006
Sexe.org (sex in French) sold for $151,400 in June 2008 in a private sale.
Michael Berkens of Mostwanteddomains.com sold the domain to a French buyer.
Engineering.org sold for $198,000 on Afternic.com on May 4th 2000.
Engineering.org now resolves to a site operated by The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, a New York-based industry organization.
.org is HOT!

Insurance giant Axa’s swiftcover.com unit introduced a mobile site for British consumers to get car insurance quotes immediately from their mobile phone.
The online insurer is targeting consumers over 25 who actively use the Internet on their mobile phone. Swiftcover’s goal with the mobile site at swiftcover.mobi is to simplify the car insurance quote process.

Took them a while but now visa have their second .mobi site up and running visa.mobi, hot on the heels of visasignature.mobi
Looks like they are planning to use visa.mobi as their ‘flexible friend’, punn intended!
Currently the site is themed out for the upcoming Olympic Games, with interesting featured stars from Olympics gone by.

Sales of L-L-L.com domains are heating up!
L-L-L.com’s are domains like R-H-E.com or J-H-P.com for example.
There are only approximately 17,500 possibile combinations of LLL.com domains or L-L-L.com domains. ALL are long gone. The only way to purchase one is on the aftermarket.
A nice sale this week was by Afternic
They sold A-M-E.com for $5,000

CarsGuide.mobi is a beautifully designed mobile website. I have known about this site for a while, but today was reading a news story for the U.K that was being reported in Australia on their News.com.au site….
& i noticed the mobile site for CarsGuide.mobi is also being promoted on the News.com.au
