pepe.com sold for 45,000 euros

March 8, 2010

pepe.com sold for 45,000 euros this week on sedo

The whois details are on privacy , although that may be from previous owner. The site is showing a parked page showing ads for what you may associate ‘pepe’ with. So if the clothing brand ‘pepe’ haven’t bought the domain, then the new owner needs to be careful I think to remove the parking page.

Either way, if this is a new brand or startup that have purchased the domain, they have bought a beautiful LLLL.com, one of the nicest out there. Obviously not as good as okok.com though!

Metal.com sold for $165,000

February 26, 2010

Metal.com has sold for $165,000 on sedo

metal.com sold

This 1995 gem has finally changed hands for a very nice sum. I feel the value is about right although potentially of course anything is possible price-wise with a domain of this quality. To my knowledge the domain has never publicly changed hands before  and is currently a parked page so don’t waste your time going to look at it.

Also the whois shows no recent change and is privacy protected. Hopefully we will find out more details in due course as the domain is probably still in the middle of sedo escrow. Hopefully some details may be released by the buyer, or one would imagine the buyer is an enduser or developer with big plans for the domain.

Watch this space! Of course we will update the post with any new information we find out.

Luck.com - another monster sale this week!

October 12, 2009

Well, it’s been quite a week, certainly for afternic, and the domain industry too.

First we had news that ‘Ticket.com‘ had sold for $1,525,000. The domain was also sold by afternic. In the first instance, I though Stubhub.com might be tasting traffic as the domain redirects there, but actually, the link in the browser looks like an affiliate or publisher code, so i think the previous owner was using it to get affiliate sales commissions.

golden ticket

Then after this we heard ‘WV.com’ had  sold for $145,000 , on the afternic platform . A solid price for a LL.com on the aftermarket. Many acronyms for this one, West Virginia being just one of them , although it maybe an investor buying this. If we keep an eye on the site and the whois we will know soon enough.

Now along comes the sale of ‘Luck.com’

I don’t know too much right now apart from the sales price, as reported by afternic and Internetual.com

The sales price is $675,000

A very healthy sale it has to be said, even though this is a dream LLLL.com word, with the best possible application for a casino or poker site. What a brand this could be!

Let’s all keep an eye open to see who the new owners are! Good Luck out there!

Forget to say, and to think it has two ‘non-premium’ letters, LOL!

Jets.com bought for $375,000

September 19, 2009

Today Jets.com has been reported as being sold by Sedo.com

The sale is listed on the homepage of their site in reported sales section. See screenshot below:

There is no indication who the buyer is yet as the whois is still showing ’sedo transfer service’. The domain was registered in 1997 and whilst the sale price is higher than i would have expected, it fits nicely into an example i often give non-domainers into why domains can be worth so much.

Particularly, ‘if’ this domain is going to be developed and used for the sale of private jets, then how many sales will it need to recoup the initial outlay? 1? 2?

You get my drift, targetted traffic on a TOP end product like this, however small the traffic , could result in big sales profits. Developed this domain should do extremely well, also there is the subdomain possibilities……………….

Lear.Jets.com  , Private.Jets.com , Business.Jets.com etc.

I’m surprised this name has been left to rot as a lazy sedo parked page for all these years though, especially a sedo one, as they seem to be amongst the ugliest, and they have the worst payouts in my own personal experience.

Sedo seem to be breaking all sorts of records this year though, in the number and size of their sales, especially during a recession.

The domain industry is alive and well, about time regular domainers woke up to this.

Hotel-Reservation.com sells for $208,000 USD

September 14, 2009

Sedo has just brokered the sale of Hotel-Reservation.com for approximately $208,000 USD . This is  one of the biggest hyphenated domain name sales ever. The keyword and seo value is obvious, but I have to say this is a huge amount to pay imho.

I believe the seller was DomCollect, which is owned by sedo, and the buyer is Hotel Reservation Service GmbH.

Casino.mobi sells for $135,000 to Infomeda

September 8, 2009

Casino.mobi sells for $135,000 to Infomeda

Monte Cahn, the CEO of Moniker.com  brokered the sale of Casino.mobi to InfoMeda Ltd . The domain was sold on behalf of the registry who will pocket the funds. Interesting to note, although the singular version is far better than the plural imho, Mr.Rick Schwartz owns Casinos.mobi

Who would dare say the maestro himself couldn’t sell his domain for more? I wouldn’t.

(Rick bought his domain, Casinos.mobi for $52k in 2007 )

Here is some more info according to the press release:

Infomeda plans to use the name as an online portal, with location-based information for bricks-and-mortar casino locations, reviews of mobile casinos as well as “fun money” casino-style games and gaming tools.  The site has launched a beta version, and an official release is expected later this month.

“This is a very strong sale for both parties in this transaction,” said Cahn.  “Gaming enthusiasts are very interested in online applications, and continually growing interest in the mobile Web indicates that the Casino.mobi site will perform well when it launches.”

dotMobi CEO Trey Harvin concurred with Cahn and added, “It’s great to see the value of .mobi names recognized in dollars. It’s even more meaningful to see the name used to identify content that takes advantage of mobile phones and gives game-players a one-of-a-kind experience that can’t be duplicated on a desktop PC.”

Love Rick Schwartz’s first post in comments

www.domainnamenews.com/up-to-…s-figures/5960

Just to correct a few sites that are falsely reporting this represents the second highest .mobi sale ever, it doesn’t.

Some higher sales:

Flowers.mobi $200,000

Poker.mobi $150,000

Ringtones.mobi $145,000

source: http://www.soldnames.com/top/mobi/

Then there was games.mobi which sold at sedo auction for over $400,000

The forocity of the bidding took down sedo’s servers for the first time ever and there were people fighting over the sale so it didnt get sold.

Also the biggest ever price for a .mobi at auction was in the same auction, music.mobi

What a pellava that was! Sold for $616k i believe but again there were big arguments with the first and second place due to the server going down and then coming back up. The sale was conducted privately between the buyers, lawyers and sedo. I think its fair to assume the price was at least in the low xxx,xxx range if not mid range. The price couldn’t be revealed due to an nda.

WebCam.com sold $1,020,000

June 11, 2009

Webcam.com was sold by Rick Latona at his auction at Traffic in April 2009

The name has just completed this week in June. The price paid was $1,020,000 .

The domain redirects to: CamLive.com

They are the new owners.

This is a beautiful aged domain registered back in 1995. There is now privacy on the domain which is no surprise as adult orientated. There is a heck of a lot of money swilling about in this sector of the adult industry, women who sign up to do a cam service can make about $5 a minute. I’m not sure how much actual type in traffic this domain would get. Personally I think is expensive to just use , utilising targetted traffic. This domain deserves to be built out.

Candy.com sells for $3 million

June 11, 2009

Huge deal took place last week that we have known was in the mix for some time. The deal is not just $3 million cash, but also 2% of profits i believe and a percentage of future resale. Once again shows the value and desirability and power of generic dictionary word domains. Although I feel this price is too high, time will tell. Rick Schwartz is truly the master salesman.

candy

Quote:

BOSTON, MA — June 3, 2009 — G&J Holdings, LLC today announced the purchase and acquisition of the web domain Candy.Com and the development of a new internet based confections retailer d/b/a Candy.Com. A growing distribution channel that is here to stay, G&J Holdings, LLC has invested in Candy.com for the purchase price of $3,000,000.  The new internet candy retailer will service the growing demand for consumers to find their favorite bulk, gourmet, and gift confectionary products with great service, a unique and social shopping experience, competitively priced products, and expedited shipping.

The domain was purchased from a Florida based domain holding company run by legendary domainier Rick Schwartz (WorkSmarter.com) aka “Domain King” who last year sold the iReport.com domain to CNN for $750,000 and Property.com to Foreclosure.com for an undisclosed amount believed to be one of the most lucrative domain deals ever. Moniker.com was responsible for the escrow of the Multi-million dollar deal and was the final lynch pin in putting this acquisition together. Trinity Law Group, LLC which specializes in startups and emerging business provided the necessary documentation to complete such a deal.
