BT has acquired Silicon Valley based voip company Ribbit for $105 million. BT is a dominant British telecommunications company and Ribbit.com has been dubbed to be Silicon Valley’s first telecommunications company.

Ribbit’s software lets you make a phone call from a web page, or direct your own phone calls to a web page. It includes ways for you to do things like transcribe these calls into text, that you can then search. More importantly, however, the company launched in December a platform for developers who want to build Ribbit’s features into any other application - including a way to sale the phone applications to large companies.

In another BIG sale Moniker handled the escrow in a $579,900 sale of Affiliate.com to Media Breakway, they are operators of the CPA Empire affiliate ad network. Another HUGE sale, iSearch.com went to Intellius for $300,000 in a private sale and Sedo.com handled the $220,000 sale of OD.com.

T.J. Demas, an Aspen, Colorado based investor  made it a clean sweep at the top of the weekly charts.

Demas is apparently obsessed with Maths & Symmetry. This  week Demas bought11 domains totalling $1,144,444.30. Six of those were  from Marchex and five more were acquired in private transactions.

Disney Sells ‘Movies.com’ to Fandango

The movie-ticketing site hopes the generic name will give it broader access to people seeking movie information online.

The familiar real estate adage is as true online as it is when it comes to buying a house: It’s all about location, location, location.

That helps explain why Fandango Inc., the nation’s leading movie-ticketing site, on Monday acquired a similar but smaller website from Walt Disney Co. that sports an attractive address: Movies.com. Fandango hopes the acquisition of Movies.com, with its generic name, will give it broader reach for people seeking movie information online.
