Hollywood.com buy 4 category killer .mobis

As most in the mobi world will know Hollywood.com acquired Hollywood.mobi for $16,000

It is an autodetect site so will sniff if you are on a mobile device, here is what you’ll see:

ready.mobi/hollywood.mobi

It is great they are using but in my opinion they would be better branding as a mobile site with the .mobi and then could get 2 successful sites going, this way they are getting traffic to the subdomain on Hollywood.com yes, but up to them.

I have noticed that Broadway.mobi  &  Film.mobi & Celebrity.mobi have been acquired by Hollywood.com also. They resolve to the same as Hollywood.mobi. I am sure this hasn’t been done to capture traffic as .mobi gets little traffic undeveloped or natural type-in. One would imagine Hollywood.com have plans to develop these out as stand alone sites. Particularly as they paid $17,000 for Broadway.mobi & for film.mobi I can’t find any figures for. Nor for celebrity.mobi .If anyone would like to update us I will amend the post.

I have contacted Hollywood.com to ask about their future plans for these premium generic .mobi sites. Hopefully I will hear back soon from them and can update this article.
