.mobi can go top on google organic pc search - get building!

I came across a fantastic site the other day. I was researching different sites online whilst building out a Lake District site myself.

The Lake District is a hugely popular search term and arguably the most beautiful place in the United Kingdom to visit. It receives 14 million visitors annually.

‘Go Lakes’ is the official Cumbria Tourism site. Both the golakes.co.uk and golakes.mobi sites are beautifully designed and a wealth of information.

Here’s where it gets interesting though. On your pc or laptop, search on Google worldwide results or just for the UK. Here’s the results below for the follwing search terms:

1/ First off google worldwide results for ‘Cumbria Tourism’

google.co.uk/search?q=cumbria+tourism

What’s really interesting and encouraging from the results above is its beating not just all major travel operators below, but other official tourist sites, but also the ‘desktop’ version on their very own .co.uk

It absolutely shows that .mobi can perform as well as any other extension on desktop search. This gives great hope and ambition for generic or non generic sites that have great sites built out. I would suggest the ones that have full pc sites and mobile sites on auto detect can absolutely compete with an m. equivalent.

It gets better. Let’s try another.

2/ This time a monster search term ‘The Lake District‘

google.co.uk/search?q=the+lake+district

Once again 1st page results. Take away the government sites at top and wikipedia, what you got?
